BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Our Mission
Rivertown Christian Volleyball is a local travel club for homeschooled girls at the middle, elementary, junior and senior high levels in the West Michigan area, centrally located in Wyoming. We welcome girls in the 3rd grade through their 12th grade year. We have served hundreds of families in the homeschool community for over 10 years and continue to be dedicated to training and teaching the sport of volleyball while using the game to relate to leading a Christian life. While we strive to Build Unity through God's Grace, we will teach your daughters the fundamentals of volleyball, practice teamwork and make friendships that last beyond the sport, all while honoring the talents Christ gifted us.
We are here to teach the fundamentals of competitive volleyball, practice teamwork, create friendships that lasts beyond the season, and cultivate leadership, all while honoring Christ.

RCV Board
We are all parents of players working together to bring competitive volleyball opportunities to homeschooled young women and to encourage their walk with Christ.

God has blessed my husband, Levi, and I with being married 20 years. In this time together we have witnessed God's goodness and grace in so many amazing ways! This is our third year homeschooling all four of our children, Kaitlin (16), Malachi (14), Ezekiel (11), and Makayla (8). Our oldest, Kait, loves to play volleyball, so we were excited to find RCV last season. As a parent of kids who love their sports and someone who has volunteered with various sport opportunities, I have gotten to see both sides of things. I now look forward to capturing memories and having the opportunity to help RCV blossom as a club.

aboutOur
Coaches
We love our RCV Coaches!
Please take a moment to get to know their passion for coaching and volleyball.

Mandi Eden
Varsity Coach
Mandi attended and played high school volleyball in Davison, Michigan, on the east side of the state. Her team made it to the state quarterfinals her junior year. She later attended Cedarville University in Ohio and was blessed to be a member of the volleyball team for two years before transferring to Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids Mi. Shortly after graduation, Mandi began coaching freshman volleyball at East Grand Rapids High School and later coached club volleyball. After many years of coaching, Mandi transitioned to officiating. For more than 10 years, she honed her skills as an official before deciding to step away from volleyball to focus more on being a mom.
Mandi is married to Scott and together they have 3 children – Bailey, Alexa, and Graham. All three children are blessed with athleticism and desire to use their talents to glorify God in all they say and do. Both daughters love the game of volleyball and have led Mandi to make her way back to the coaching role.
Mandi believes sports are a major avenue for a child’s development and growth through healthy competition. Many skills learned through sports translate directly to daily life and career work. Hard work and striving for excellence is a major aspect of healthy competition. Mandi’s strongest desire is for each athlete to use their God-given talents to bring glory to Him in all they say and do. Mandi is a firm believer that volleyball is more than just a game. It’s a tool used to teach various life skills that the players can build on as they grow and mature.

Julie Mulder
Junior Varsity Coach
I am so excited to have the opportunity to coach the JV team this year! I have loved volleyball since the day I walked on the court! I played varsity level volleyball, softball, and basketball throughout high school in addition to travel and club volleyball. Sports have been a very important part of my life, ever since I can remember. With 9+ years experience coaching girls softball and basketball, I am very confident in my new role coaching volleyball. I realize the impact sports can have on an adolescent's life overall- and that is why I love to coach! My love for sports, love for teaching, and desire for helping girls grow into confident young women is just part of my passion in coaching.
In addition to coaching, I work a full-time career in the healthcare field. I am married to my husband Brad and we have two amazing girls, Kayla and Annaleigh. They have both played for RCV since 2019.
Volleyball is about the relationships built on and off the court. I am a proponent of team bonding and building relationships that will last long after the sport is done. I believe it's not just about winning or losing- it's about preparing youth for a fulfilled tomorrow.

Emma Summerfield
14U Head Coach
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I was homeschooled along with my two younger sisters through high school. I played at RCV from 7th grade through 12th. I also played club volleyball at Michigan Volleyball Academy. After high school, I was recruited to play volleyball for Grace Christian University. My primary position throughout my volleyball career was Libero/Defensive Specialist. I was also team captain my junior and senior year.
In 2016 I started coaching at MVA. I have coached teams ranging in age from 12-14 years old. As a former player for RCV, I am excited to come back and invest in the program that supported me.
For college I had the opportunity to do a dual-degree program with Grace and Davenport University for accounting. In 2021, I graduated with my Bachelors in Business Administration and Masters in Accountancy. I currently work at SpartanNash in accounting.
