BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Rivertown Christian Volleyball is a local travel club for homeschooled girls at the middle, elementary, junior and senior high levels in the West Michigan area, centrally located in Wyoming. We welcome girls in the 2nd grade through their 12th grade year. We have served hundreds of families in the homeschool community for over 10 years and continue to be dedicated to training and teaching the sport of volleyball while using the game to relate to leading a Christian life. While we strive to Build Unity through God's Grace, we will teach your daughters the fundamentals of volleyball, practice teamwork and make friendships that last beyond the sport, all while honoring the talents Christ gifted us.
We are here to teach the fundamentals of competitive volleyball, practice teamwork, create friendships that lasts beyond the season, and cultivate leadership, all while honoring Christ.
We are all parents of players working together to bring competitive volleyball opportunities to homeschooled young women and to encourage their walk with Christ.
I have been happily married for 18 years to Joni. We have six children – Samantha, Darren, Payton, Lily, Josie and Matilda (Tillie). I work as the Operations Manager at Best Metal Products. I was born and raised in Michigan, but Joni is a transplant from Iowa. I look forward to helping RCV continue on in the strong traditions it has started since its inception.
I am the mom of Annika Wassink who started playing with RCV in 2019. Annika had such a great year with her coaches and teammates and, the Lord willing, I look forward to seeing how I can serve the RCV program in the future.
Accountability Mentor/Lead Photographer
God has blessed my husband, Levi, and I with being married 19 years. In this time together we have witnessed God's goodness and grace in so many amazing ways! This is our second year homeschooling all four of our children, Kaitlin (16), Malachi (14), Ezekiel (10), and Makayla (8). Our oldest, Kait, loves to play volleyball, so we were excited to find RCV last season. As a parent of kids who love their sports and someone who has volunteered with various sport opportunities, I have gotten to see both sides of things. I now look forward to capturing memories and having the opportunity to help RCV grow, especially in the area of our daughters honoring Christ through their actions on and off the court.
We love our RCV Coaches!
Please take a moment to get to know their passion for coaching and volleyball.

Junior Varsity Coach
I have been happily married to my husband for 16 years. In that time we have been blessed with six children and one angel baby. Chloe (15), Leah(13), RuthAnna(10), Joshua(9), Phinehas(3), and Felix(1). The Lord has lead us to begin our homeschool journey this fall(2021). I was blessed to play volleyball most of high school and my two years of college. I loved the game so much I wanted to give back. I have been a MS, JV, and Varsity coach for the last 6 years. I am also a coach at Michigan Volleyball Academy. I am excited to continue coaching at RCV and train young girls both on the court and in their walk with God.

Goals & Vision
We have expanded our program to form a Practice team starting the 2021 season. We plan to have more involvement with our Big Sisters Program having a coordinator to lead our girls in forming those bonds. We will again host a home tournament and attend many away tournaments. Our Elementary team will have the opportunity to play at the State Tournament (typically at the end of October, but no official date yet). Our Middle School team will get to join the Midwest Volleyball Classic Tournament in Ft Wayne, Indiana (October 8-9), plus attend the State Tournament as well in Mt Pleasant. Our JV team will have the home tournament, Midwest Volleyball Classic, State Tournament and possibly one other tournament. Varsity will have the opportunity to attend the Officials for Kids, Midwest Volleyball Classic, State Tournament and the National Homeschool Volleyball Tournament.
We still plan to have weekly devotions, but would like to create more connection between the lesson and our practices. We would like our big sisters to lead devotions for their little sisters at times too. We would like to see our girls and coaches influencing each other to be compassionate, loving, kind-hearted, encouraging and bring the best out of each other, even when losing a game or not playing their best. We are striving to create a "What to Expect" model for each team so that everyone knows what expect from the coaching at each level and for that model to be consistent from elementary through varsity. We are still working on this so please share ideas or thoughts if you would like. We hope that all of our players, coaches and family members can embrace the vision we have to create a Christ-honoring volleyball program. There will be a zero tolerance policy for "mean girls" or "bullying" or even just down-right poor attitudes consistently from players, coaches or family members. We want this to be a program that shows God's love to all those we encounter.
