Rivertown Christian Volleyball is a local travel club for homeschooled girls at the junior and senior high levels in the West Michigan area, centrally located in Wyoming. We welcome girls in the 6th grade through their 12th grade year. We have served hundreds of families in the homeschool community for over 10 years and continue to be dedicated to training and teaching the sport of volleyball while using the game to relate to leading a Christian life. While we strive to Build Unity through God's Grace, we will teach your daughters the fundamentals of volleyball, practice teamwork and make friendships that last beyond the sport, all while honoring the talents Christ gifted us.
We are here to teach the fundamentals of competitive volleyball, practice teamwork, create friendships that lasts beyond the season, and cultivate leadership, all while honoring Christ.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
I have been happily married for 17 years to Joni. We have six children – Samantha, Darren, Payton, Lily, Josie and Matilda (Tillie). I work as the Operations Manager at Best Metal Products. I was born and raised in Michigan, but Joni is a transplant from Iowa. I look forward to helping RCV continue on in the strong traditions it has started since its inception.
I've been happily married to Freda for 27 years. We have four children - Josh 26, Ben 23, Jonathan 19, and Sara 17. We moved to Michigan 2 years ago from Sarasota Florida and we absolutely love it up here. I work full time for Insignia Homes, a
local construction company. I've been coaching volleyball for about 6 or 7 years, but I've
played volleyball pretty much my whole life. I'm very excited about continuing the excellent traditions of RCV and I look forward to helping young ladies develop relationships and teaching life lessons that are learned through teamwork and
competition. Helping them to grow in character and strengthen their faith in Christ.
I am the mom of Annika Wassink who started playing with RCV in 2019. Annika had such a great year with her coaches and teammates and, the Lord willing, I look forward to seeing how I can serve the RCV program in the future.
I have been happily married for 5 years to my husband Chris, together we have a blended family of 7 children, thirteen and under. Our oldest Ella has played
with RCV for 2 seasons now. I am also a seasoned and current volleyball player with a shared passion for the game looking to revamp the excitement in this homeschool program for both players and parents. It is important we remember who gave us our talents and we encourage the girls to play with a love for Jesus that shines brightly even during competition. I am excited to see where God leads the program with the new doors He has opened for RCV.
VISION AND GOALS
With a fresh perspective and feedback from parents and players, we would like to see more family involvement in the RCV Program along with more team bonding throughout all levels. We are working on ideas to form "team sisters" between older or seasoned players and our younger or newer players. We hope to cultivate a bond where our older girls can be a mentor for our younger girls.
We see our teams having a weekly devotion all together that will influence their practice time within teams as well. We hope to have the coaches incorporate mini-lessons and challenges that both stem from the weekly devotion and individual reflection to continue honoring God on and off the court. We would like to see our girls and coaches influencing each other to be compassionate, loving, kind-hearted, encouraging and bring the best out of each other, even when losing a game or not playing their best.
